HIDDEN TALENT - "BAKAT TERPENDAM"

It was said that Malaysian young are encouraged to read the life of Cat Stevens to Yusof Islam

Islam, Yusuf (b. 1948) The former Cat Stevens, at one time a pop singer, now an Islamic organizer and educator. After his conversion to Islam, his interest in educating Muslim children led him to found the Islamiah School in Brent, London in the late 1980s. Was a founder of the Muslim Council of Britain and a fundraiser for Muslim charities.

* The Oxford Dictionary of ISLAM - by JOHN L. ESPOSITO

I loved singing "Morning Has Broken" during my younger days under the shower....(much to the chagrin of my mother, as I took my own sweet time in the bathroom)....

Morning has broken, like the first morning
Blackbird has spoken, like the first bird
Praise for the singing, praise for the morning
Praise for the springing fresh from the word (brrrr... no water heater)

Sweet the rain's new fall, sunlit from heaven
Like the first dewfall, on the first grass
Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden
Sprung in completeness where his feet pass

Mine is the sunlight, mine is the morning
Born of the one light, Eden saw play
Praise with elation, praise every morning
God's recreation of the new day

I had no notion that "Morning Has Broken" is a hymn those days in the 1970s. But today translated in bahasa "Pagi Telah Merekah" is "lagu dakwah" or "nasyid."
